EUDR Regulation changes customs procedures due to deforestation

The new EUDR deforestation regulation will significantly affect customs procedures for imports and exports from December 30, 2025.

Dear clients,

On December 30, 2025, Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 of the European Parliament and of the Council (EUDR) will come into force, fundamentally changing the rules for importing, exporting, and placing products on the European market.

It applies to the following relevant commodities: soybeans, cattle, palm oil, rubber, coffee, cocoa, and wood, as well as relevant products derived from them, such as paper, technical oils, chocolate, and others. The aim is to reduce global deforestation and forest degradation.

Companies will have to prove that their products:

The regulation will come into force on December 30, 2025, for large and medium-sized enterprises. Micro and small businesses have a grace period until June 30, 2026, but will have to meet the same requirements.

We recommend that companies trading in the above-mentioned commodities address this issue in a timely manner – for example, by participating in professional training courses where they will learn how to proceed correctly and what documents will be newly required.
